Our aims are that all children can

  • Perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians
  • Learn to sing and to use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others, have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, use technology appropriately and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence.
  • Understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations. 




Reception Music Lesson - How Music makes us feel

During this Music lesson, We talked about how the music we were listening to made us feel and what we could hear. It made us feel: Happy, Cheerful and like doing a dance! We also talked about loud and quiet sounds. Using our hands we created a pattern using loud and quiet, which you can see in one of our photos. We worked as a class to make our own pattern to follow the claps on the board. We chose blue for quiet and pink for loud. Then we clapped our pattern together and recorded it on our sheets.​
